Here is a pic of a filter out of a Dodge, the owner was running B-10 from stinker Gas station in Idaho.


the same gunk was in the bottom of his fuel bowl, lost his injector pump to a cost of 2 grand.


Why did it do this? I have run 4 tanks through my truck now , is there a need for worry?

Does the cummapart sit a lot? Looks like it might be algae. Won't take 5 minutes for you pull your filter to see if it's from the stations tank or his.

 

its not algae. but the vasline compairson is a good one. I was told by the tool binder (works for the dodge dealer)it was the lard comming back out if the fule. the bottom of the fule bowl was full of the stuff. dont have that picture yet. but will get it and how many miles he had on it

 

I dont know what it is but I can tell you what it isn't. It is not "lard coming back out of the fuel".
Once the feed stock oil has been thru the transesterification process it would have repeat the process in reverse to recreate the feed stock. That would require recreating the conditions found in in the processor with all components, including glycerol, present in the right proportions.

The only way it could be lard is if the feedstock, including lard, was simply mixed with diesel and not processed.

Was your friend truly using BD or was he one of the "mix WVO and diesel together" crowd.

Bio is supposed to clean the gunk out, but wow. I have a friend who has a 96 dodge and he didnt have any problems with bio, other than the standard run a few tanks though and change the filter issue. Was the bio purchased from a station? did they use a reputable refiner? B10 is not a common mix here. we have B5, B20, B80 and B99.

 

Put it in a zip lock bag and place it in hot water to see if you can get it to turn into a liquid.

 

came from stiker gas staion, the owner was one of the engineers for the bio diesel. they are reputable. they are the first gas station to sell any type of bio, was told that the b 10 was a test to see if people would by it

will see if i can get the filter and boil it.

It is more likely they did a lousy job of cleaning the fuel after processing. Probably didn't wash it or allow it to settle long enough.

 

Wow! In 3 years, and over 9,000 gallons I've never had anything like that [ but then I'm pretty **** about how I make my biodiesel]. I have small clear prefilters on all the rigs we use biodiesel in, and they always look very clear.

Looks like soap to me............

 

If its soap I wonder what the injectors look like
