Mid. Tn. Meet?
#2
You get a group together & I'll try to be there. I don't mind driving to the Nashville area to a GTG. I consider anything as close as Nashvegas a west side meet. I've driven out & back on the same day to several meets in the Nashville middle Tn area. Post up a date so I can try to get to the gtg

Yeah, Howard has been out this way quite a few times for meets with another Ford truck site, I used to scope out areas and set some up there, before giving up due to inactivity.
Loretta Lynn's Ranch is east of Nashville, it would be a terrific area to have a meet, has a camp site complete with cabin rentals, lots of things to do there too.
It's the cold time of year, so meets will need to be indoors, the fair grounds in Nashville have some stuff going on during this time, indoors. Oprymills is full of shopping centers, but the security cruisers will go Barney Fife on you gathering in the parkinglot, demand you going inside or leave, interested in your money only. We found this out when we setup a meet there, a few were in the parkinglot waiting for everyone to arrive when ole Barney rolled up, thank god a THP officer rolled up in a Ford truck to join the meet, pretty much got us left alone, since he didn't want to try to run him off.

Unfortunately, I think parking lot meets, no matter where it's at, your going to run into that kind of thing with the "security" people. The only way around that is to try to meet at a specific location in the mall(food court, or in a certain location in bass pro for example). If everyone wanted to wait in the parking lot til every one got there, then it would have to be at a restuarant or a touristy spot that isn't a mall(I would think anyway), or a strip center that has huge parking but still small enough it doesn't have it's own barney fife patrol. I'm game for anything round here after the 1st if anybody wants to have one, rather we decide to do opry mills or somewhere else.

Oppry Mills is a bit of a drive, but I can come out there, really easy to roll around in my wheelchair there and the mall is pretty open, pluss it's free. The other club I was a member of always looked for places with events, aquariums and amusement park type, not in my income bracket, I struggle with gas money alone.
I went to GSVR II (Great Southern Van Run), was at a campground in Cherokee NC, was great, vanners don't need much to entertain themselves. We all camped out, shot the breeze, hung around the camp fire at night BSing, and during the day, toured into the reservation for entertainment. More of a get together, not a great deal of cost involved, would be nice to do similar, maybe at a lake, some can head out and fish during the day.

There are quite a few good lakes round here, even though I'm more of an offshore fisherman myself(one of the things I miss since I have started living up here). I think that would be better off in the spring though, depending on if we are able to get this one going, spring thru fall would be a good time to do a fishing get together. I'm hoping to be able to get a pontoon boat by spring/summer this coming year depending on how finances work out and how my little projects for my truck end up going. Normandy dam(which should be not to bad of a drive from you) and Piercy Priest Lake are the ones that I try to go to the most.

I was mentioning that for a spring event, Bass Pro is a terrible spot to go with fishermen, I had a hard time fighting the urges to get more tackle.
I practically lived on Priest when I had my pontoon boat, father in law bought one, but his step son pretty much took it over, keeps it broke, just lets his mom and stepdad pay for parts to fix it, then does things to keep it away from them.
You can find pontoons cheap, they bought an old 24', then got a 115 Big Johnson, happens to be a detuned 125 and put on it, sucker moves now. The steering cable self destructed due to age and more hp than it was designed, came on the 40 hp that origionally was fitted with. Boats are a hole in the water in which you throw your money, beware inboards like they are the plague, many are unseasoned and have leaky engine blocks, freeze and bust in the winter.
Four Corners and Fate Sanders docks on Priest both rent boats, have some nice pontoons, everyone chip in and it'd be reasonable. I got tons of tackle and junk, need to sell off some of my boating equipment, since I'll not be getting another.
