So far, I'm okay. But i need a serious good electric heater, and i want a propane heater that will not mess up on me.

(My KERO heater has gone to crud... Burnt low one night, I need to replace the wick)

We have the natural gas going full time in Bartlett! I know it's cheaper than last year when we just froze, but I still don't want to see the bill. It's suppose to get into the 60's by Monday with some rain - more like winter in Memphis!!

I'm running up the gas bill too. I will stay warm & gripe about the bill later. I hate cold weather. It makes my old bones hurt & the women wear too many clothes.

My biggest concern is based on an ice storm a few years back.

Without a STAND ALONE heater, I could see the electric service go out for two weeks or more and then all the bitty little space heaters from wally world or wherever will be completely useless...

You want to guard agin' that!

Please excuse this "doppelganger". BIG CHIGGER INTERNET picked that moment to foul up while I was posting...

Think after this'n too - your natural gas heater has got ELECTRIC controls running it.

My central heat is gas and requires lectric, BUT I have 1 Gas fireplace with ventless logs and 1 gas heater in my other fireplace. Neither of them need lectric so I feel fortunate.

Wolfie, You might want to look into one of those corner or wall ventless fireplaces and pipe some propane to it. No lectric needed. You can run it as needed or not if you got plenty of other heat. They also have a thermostat built in which will cut them on and off. I really like mine.

I have a couple of propane space heaters stored for times of no electricity. I have a couple of bottles of propane put away too. I grew up in the country & know all about ice storms.
