I am very interested in running svo in my truck but i dont think i want the hassle of running 100 percent veggie oil. maybe 50/50 with diesel or something like that. My motivator is that stupid ULSD crap that we are going to have to put in our trucks. I run old IDI and i do know that ULSD will not do me any good with its lack of lubrication. What would be some good mix ratios? Im open to ideas. I have ever heard some people mixing with kerosene but im a bit weary of that. If i was to only run half and half how much heating would i need on that tank do you think?

any comments or suggestions are more than welcome!

 

I run a 50/50 mix in the winter and Straight in the summer with a heated fuel filter, available from Big Truck supply places. Its made by Racor, I got a deal on mine b/c i live in Alabama and the place had the thing sitting in their warehouse for 5 years. HOWEVER, BE SURE TO GET ONLY NO HYDROGENATED OILS, THE ONES THAT STAY LIQUID EVEN WHEN IT IS COLD. ANY SHORTENING OR HYDROGENATED OILS WILL NOT MIX WITH YOUR DIESEL FUEL, THEY WILL SEPERATE!
