7.3 & 6.0 Owners & Vegtable Oil

Was just wondering if there were any guys (or girls) out there with 7.3's or 6.0's that were using Veggie Oil for fuel. If so, how is it working out.

Ive done it with my 7.3. I was awarded certain issues because I didnt put all these inline heaters and crap. Its much easier to change into bio and not have issues, priceless. Lesko the supporter has kits for veggie if your interested.

I am running a heated WVO system on my 95 7.3. It is a 2 tank system with 2 heat exchanges and hose on hose fuel lines. About 6K on WVO. No issues. I start and stop on diesel or a biodiesel blend. Getting ready to make my own biodiesel.

The heated system is one that I have been learning about. Still wondering though if anyone has done it on a 6.0. Sounds like the 7.3 doesn't have any issues with it.

I recently purchased a used 2004 w/ a 6.0. I am very interested in where you got the parts for your WVO conversion. I have read that you cannot run WVO on th 2004 (and newer) 6.0 because the fuel injectors cannot handle it. Any references you can supply would be appriciated!

I think the fuel filters (5 micron) plug easily might be the problem

I used a Plant Drive kit for my 05 WVO conversion

Erick - I was going to convert my 99 but sold it before I got around to it. Then I bought an 85 MB 300D which I did convert with Plantdrive's standard two tank kit. I plan to sell the MB as I just bought a 97 Superduty 7.3 and transfer my kit to it. Do you know if that kit will work; will I need any additional components? Plantdrive doesn't list a kit for the OBS PSDs but I don't want to lose my investment.

If this is a first gen 7.3 they are a challenge and this kit you have won’t adapt straight away.

For one the stock filter, Pressure regulator, are very big and since the, I think lower pressure and high pressure pumps are in this assembly, can't easily be by-passed. So purge times can be very long. The return runs back through this all as well. You will need 2 three way valves minimum.

The Vegtherm standard you have may not keep up with the larger flow of this engine. For the second gen 7.3 and all 6.0 PSDs they sell the Vegtherm Mega.

I do know that one of Plant Drives installers is working on some very specific instructions for installing a WVO kit in this truck. So at some point they will have a kit.

Maybe sell the kit with the car for more money then you could without the kit and start over.

Erick
