"Diode Suppressed" Solenoid help
My father in law replaced a battery in his 1986 f150 302 EFI, and he said it wouldnt crank, then he realized he forgot which way the wires were on the solenoid. The solenoid is marked "Diode Suppressed" or something like that.
He left the key on and went inside, when he came back to it the alternator was just smoking (The engine was OFF). Any diagram available? Any tips?"
so anyway I am thinking he has a short in the alternator that killed his first battery, when I gave him a fresh one to use, it smoked the alternator.
When he lets go of the key while cranking the truck dies. Ok I know this is long. Does anyone have a diagram for how to rewire the solenoid back? I know the large wires and how to get the key switch right, but the rest I do not know. I only am familiar with the older Fords.
