Any chance of the 6.2L anytime soon?

I just hope we're not going to have a completely new engine family again after all the modulars have done, they've been nearly flawless.
I've heard rumors that they've decided to use the landrover cgi diesel instead of that baby powerstroke. Though I wouldn't be suprised if they threw the powerstroke name on it just because its a diesel.

Ever read Dilbert?
It's amazing how much engineers try to come up with great products, or push existing stuff that is GREAT in all respects, only to have marketing go "Nope, we need something NEW". And then have it fail.
Although, "Triton" or "modular" has evoked the "plug ejection" issues.
Sure, spend millions on a new design to get away from that stigma.
Or just rename the darn modular as "BOSS" or "21st century" or some other name.
Increase the bore spacing, maybe the main bearing width, maybe the rod bearing width, and have a 300K+ mile motor. The existing modular design already has been proven to last 200K+, even in "truck" duty.
But, where's the planned obsolescence ?

Nope, but I agree with everything you said.
They need to take a page out of chebby's book on this one.
I wonder what could be so great about a new design that they'd spend so much on one. The plug ejection issue has pretty much been solved with the 3 valve heads and I've never heard anyone say anything about it besides on the internet, so it can't be THAT much of an issue. Hopefully its a big a leap forward from "modular" to the next generation of v8s as it was from the windsors/460 to the modular, but I don't see all that much to improve on except hp numbers which they could have if they really wanted it seems.

I think i was in second grade, so I didn't really know.. haha.
But thats basically what I'm saying, I'm not really sure what they're going to do to improve them though. Hopefully they'll be mod based like krewat said. But hey, if we get some cubes comparable to what the competition have and have basically the same type of engine things should get very interesting.
