who builds the most Dependable Longest Lasting truck on the road

I know this may sound like a dumb question... because everyone knows (thinks) its Chevrolet but I have been reading in some places that it in fact Dodge . I have also seen in places that is Ford... I am just curious to hear your guys opinion ( I Personally Believe NOTHING can touch a FORD TRUCK).

i say the late 70's through the 80's chevy and the mid 90's fords.

but all in all i will say that the mid 90's fords will be known as one of the best that were ever made. i can't wait to get the money to buy another one!

THis question is asked in many different ways, many different times on this forum. One would suspect if you asked on a Ford Enthusisats forum, that the answer would be ford. If you went to the Chevy forum, it would be chevy.

The truth of the matter is, it depends on how you use and maintain your truck. Out in Cali, my trucks would last forever. All of them. Up in Alaska, you tear a truck up rather quickly. Here in Iowa, if you by a truck that is 20 years old, the body looks like swiss cheese and the underbody is a mess. You will find an occasional cherry that is like my trucks, washed through the winter and waxed a couple of times a year.

The rest is up to maintenance.

My opinion:

None of 'em do. They're all junk in their own, particular way.

My opinion, 2001-2003 7.3s, I also think these 06 and 07 powerstrokes might do pretty good.

Attend any swap meet or vintage car/truck all comers show...Ford has 2-3 times the number of vehicles than any other make.

More Fords are restored than all other makes combined.

Why?

One reason is...there are more Fords that survived than any other make.

OK?

With bowtie power..... go figure. there ought to be more fords since ford was basically the only vehicle built for a number of years.

That's quite a statement. I would say that in your area that is possible. I grew up in an area where you couldn't throw a dead cat without hitting a classic Chevy.

I live in an area that is strongly Dodge. In fact, I see more E-body Plymouths here than I did growing up, and we own 1. I see more E-bodies than 60's Mustangs, and that is tough to do.

The make that is prevolent in an area depends on the dealership and the preference of the people in the area.

It also depends how long you are willing to go back as well, and include what models.
I would say a late 70's Toyota Landcruiser, early 80's Toyota Hilux, and the 70's Mercedes trucks were the most reliable trucks built - ever...

My point was...what make predominates at 'all comers' old car/truck shows.

Ford.

There are more car/truck clubs for Fords than any other make.

There are more suppliers for Ford parts than any other make.

Which tells me there are more Fords collected/restored than any other make.

I've attended 100's of shows nationwide since the 60's...I've seen a heck of a lot of Fords....everywhere.
