XL vs. XLT

I've been looking for a used F250. I found an '04 at a decent price; but it's only an XL. Other than the cheaper uphostery and vinyl floor mats; is there any significant diffference between the two trim levels? Extra sound deadening?

Would it be very difficult to change to power windows, door locks and mirrors?

Should I just keep looking for an XLT and save myself a lot of grief?

Thanks,
Fred

well, from my opinion, if its cheap enough and a deal, get it, the only real difference is the power window and locks, maybe cruise control but not sure.

also the xl usually has the non chrome bumpers and vinyl seats and flooring.

but i am sure its easy to swap in power windows and locks, i would buy an xl if it was good enough deal, but if its not a super good deal, then keep looking.

If you want the extras just find the XLT as the XL is the newer version of the Custom which was usually a bare bones truck.

I have the XL, so I can say, at least in an 01, what you did or didnt get. And FWIW, I held out because I wanted an XL. I didn't want the fancy stuff because of the work I do - construction, I just figured it'd get mussed up. And I love the rubber floors.
So, for wheels you got stock steel rims. You don't have power locks or windows, and mine doesn't have cruise. That's about the only thing I wish I had. But I dont want it for $300. Beyond that, the radio is the same, the seats are cloth bench, everything else is about the same. I think, but I'm not sure, that the headlights are different on the XL. I know mine has what they call "sealed" headlamps that are flat and sit in to a plastic cover, whereas most I see the headlamp glass follows the body contour.
I guess I'd agree - if the deal is good, and you want to add cruise or change the radio, that's all pretty easily done. If you want all the gimmicks, you're probably financially ahead to just get the XLT with that stuff already there.

Yes and expensive since the truck is fairly new. XLT across the Ford line is usually where you start to get cruise, nice radios, power everything, along with color coded or chrome exterior stuff along with a nicer choice of seats.

I think on the later models, 1997 and up, there is no difference between the XL and XLT.
