F-350 DUALLY rear brake drums stuck/rusted? on
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the site here (great website by the way) and have a brake question.
I have a 1997 F-350 DUALLY with the FORD full floating axle.
The rear brake drums are stuck/rusted? to the hubs. I have tried wire brushing and using penetrating oil where the drum slips over the hub, but it's still STUCK SOLID.(drums turn so brake isn't on)
IF POSSIBLE, I don't want to remove the axle and hub to get the drum off if I don't have to, or possibly distort the drum by hammering on it or using a puller.
Are these drums heavy/strong enough to not distort, if I use a drum puller while "tapping hard" on the drum around its diameter or near the stud area and do you think this will get the drums off??
Any suggestions to get these drums of will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. When reassembling, will putting antiseeze(sp?)compound on the hub where the drum slips over keep this from happening again?
Thanks in advance,
Gary
