Transmission swap?

I have a '66 Ranchero with a factory 289. The tranny is a floor-mounted 3 speed. I have an opportunity to get a '68 Ford 1/2 ton pickup cheap. It has a 300ci 6 banger with a 4 speed. Would this tranny work in my Ranchero?

re: swap

Apparently the shifter is much further forward on the truck transmissions. Okay if I had no dashboard ; {
Any one know what other model 4 speeds would swap out in my Ranchero?

A Ford Top loader 4 speed is probably a direct bolt in. It was in my '65 Mustang.

Info on these boxes:

http://www.4speedtoploaders.com/

this guy does 'em right, not cheap, but lots of info regarding models etc.

Another site with lots of info:

Did someone say 5 speeds? If you are going to the trouble to swap out, a T5 will bolt in also, giving you OD for low rev hiway running. Some sites with info.

These fellers got right back to me when I emailed them. The sell packages including cross members.

http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/T-5.asp
info galore.... including other models with movable shifters.

how to ID the T5 if you visit your local scrappy in search of same.

Good luck.
