Not sure if this is the right forum but I am looking to sell my Bronco in the next year or so, what is the value of it?

I have a 1985 Bronco II V6 2.8 Liter 4X4, new used engine at 93,000 rebuilt tranny, strait body, no rust, tires and brakes 50% +, good interior (regular 21 years of wear), 25 hwy MPG. Anyone know of a good asking price.

Around here about $1200, in a snowy state about $2000 might be good. The thing is trying to find someone that actutally knows how to drive a standard that wants it. Most of the people that drive standards are into ricers and would not know what a BII was.

I would suggest selling it on E-Bay.

 

Northern to Central Oregon is probably where I will try and sell it. Around here I do not see much in ricers. There is usually some good snow in Central Oregon and people are more into their sound systems and off-road vehicles.

Does anyone think and body lift and/or a sound system would raise the appeal and/or the asking price? 2-3" body lift, I would like to leave the interior as stock as possible and conceal a CD player and subs, would adding these increase or decrease the value and/or appeal?

 

I wouldn't think a body lift would increase the value any. Might decrease it some in some peoples eyes.

A sound system might to the younger buyers but I wouldn't go out and spend any money on one just to sell it with the truck. If you have a system around that your not real fond of or don't have much money tied up in it, go ahead and throw it in. You could always use it for a bargaining tool on the price.

Just remember .... You never get out of it what you put into it when it comes time to sell it. IMO

It would do nothing either way.

When I buy a vehicle I pay the most for a stock vehicle, one owner, with a title.

If it does not have a title, I pay a lot less.

The only thing you can add, that will add value above what a normal BII normally sells at, is if it has lockers or a V-8 302/C-4.

I suggest when selling it, put it in the SUV section, state small V-6/manual/seats five, SUV, 4x4 so someone that does not know what it is will be interested.

 

I sold an 88 a couple of years ago on ebay.I think I got around 600$ for it.

 

sounds like you have a real nice bii actually, you should probably hold on to, its hard to find one without rust on it. Oh yeah I got my 85 for free, and your gas mileage sounds really nice mine gets crap for mileage

BII go real cheap when they go and ther's no blue book value to speak of. I've had 2 so far and paid $500.00 (Portland OR) and $800.00 (Vidalia GA) for each one. You'll only get that much from someone who wants it. They unfortunately got a bad rap due to thier size (easy roll over and swap ends quick). Doesn't help that they don't make them any more. You go out to the coast around Long Beach theylike them there a lot (that's where live now).

 

The bronco II is gaining some popularity with the offroad crowd these days, thier small and nimble, but checking ebay, they don't hold much value. I would like to have an 88 with a manual trans and t-case for kicks and gigles. Thier short wheeled base with a high center of gravity, a body lift would make it worse, besides, no need to put money into it that you won't get back out. If it's pretty decent, you should be able to get 1,200 to 1,500 out of it I would think, or just give it to me as a tax write off ha ha.

 

I really liked the 88 that I sold.I swapped out a couple of engines for a guy.The deal was he gave me the 88 in exchange for the work.It was an auto 4X4,he said he was going down the road and the trans just stopped pulling.I pulled the trans and the torque converter was stripped out,I replaced the torque converter and it was fine.I would have kept it, but I read about so many problems with the auto I got rid of it.I wouldn,t mind having another one with a manual trans someday.

 

I am going to try and get as much as possible because I need to fix my 1988 F-250 XLT Lariet V8 7.3 Liter Diesel 5-speed Manual 4X4. I need new clutch and flywheel, glow plugs and controller, rear fuel line, some new brake pads later on, and some other things. The reason I am keeping the diesel is: I will be installing a Grease Kit on it, run the truck on strait vegetable oil. I am currently unable to take pictures of the Bronco II because I am away from home (will be for some time) and my camera is at home.

 

Check edmunds.com or the kelly blue book site. As an earlier poster said don't start putting money in it if you plan to sell. It is quite hard to recover.
