Y-blocks are not commonplace, they sound cool, and are decent performers. It's a great engine to have in a classic truck for all those reasons. It's guaranteed to start a conversation whenever you lift the hood.

What the heck is this? The question doesn't make sense. Sure, I'll take a 59, a 60, a 56, a 49...........why not a 42 since money doesn't matter. There sure aren't many 42's because of something called WWII, but since money doesn't matter I would like one.

I think I want a 64 1/2 Mustange also.

If it was an F-250 4X4, I'd definitely want one. I'm a flathead V8 guy, but I also appreciate the Y-Block V8s too.

Great looking truck, though if you plan on driving the "Olde Girl' regularly, you just might wish to put Bumpers back on her.
As one of our other members just found out the hard way when a Ricer Rearended him @ 5mph & did a thousand + dollars of damage to the Sheep Metal, which wouldn't of happened if he would've left the H.D. Bumpers in place.

 

That really is a nice looking truck, thanks for posting those pics on the Gallery. I have a funny story about my first vehicle and bumpers.

I had a VW bus, which was about the coolest thing you could have in High School in the 90's in the SF bay area. Much cooler then my dad's 68 f150 stepside, at the time in my mind anyway (doh!).

We just changed out the engine and on VW buses that means you have to remove the bumper, it slides out backwards. Anyway, I still had the brackets, but I hadn't put the bumper back on. A person in a brand new car on their way home from the dealer pulled behind me. I was still getting used to the clutch (much different then the 68 I had learned how to drive in) and I either rolled backwards and hit them, or put it in reverse accidently. That bumper bracket caused about 800 dollars worth of damage to the brand new car! Woops. I only paid 500 for that bus, with a spare engine! Yea, bumpers are good. I know lots of people that run without them though. I like the hot rod style bumpers, you know the bracket with the 1/2 round bar chrome plated.
