429 Fuel Pump Eccentric

I know this is a simple question, but I must ask. I replaced the timing set on my 429. Can the fuel pump eccentric go on in any position. I see no marks, and the book just says to install it. I didn't mark it when I removed it. It seems odd that nothing holds it in place except the cam gear bolt. TIA..Tommy

well usually the eccentric as a tap that sticks down that goes into the hole where the pin for the cam stick into the gear to keep it from spinning other than that there is no real set position for it to be in.

I agree with that, however; there was no hole or tap on the eccentric. It is just a smooth solid plate except for the bolt hole. Thanks for the help though.

The early one piece eccentrics didn't have the tab. Just bolt it on and it will work fine.
