1995 Ford F-150 with 4.9L... towing capabilities??
I have a 1995 F-150 with the 5-speed and the 4.9L engine. It is high mileage but very well maintained. I was wondering what kind of towing capability it has. It is hard to find towing information for the 6-cyl. trucks as I'm sure it is done much less often.
I actually only want to occaisionally tow my Trans Am to the track so that when I break it racing I can get it home. Is this possible, with a flat-bed or a dolly, as long as it's only done a few times a year?
Due to the fact that my buddy and I towed my Firebird Formula with his Bronco II and a tow strap with no problem, and I've hauled some hefty loads in my truck myself, it seems like it would handle it fine... but I wanted to get some advice. I am new to towing!

My last scraping truck was a 89 f150 with a 300 and a 5 speed, and I've pulled over 5 ton behind it, its all about gearing. If your truck has highway gears, it'll do it, it will just be doggy starting off. Now stoping, if the trailer/dolley doesnt have trailer brakes (mine doesnt) then you really need to be watching and give yourself the extra room. If you do pull it, go in the country and try some panic stops, see how it reacts to it.
