My motor

I need to put a new rear main seal in it.And was wondering how much of a pain it will be.It is a FE 390.And do anyone know what the torque is on the rear main cap? Thanks Tony

Hey Now T,

NP....

The Auto Zone Repair info pages have some great info...
And Exploded Views...most have the same detail as the ones the Ford Dealer uses for parts lookup.....I have printed out dozens of the Exploded Views for the 100 and have them in binders....I sure I'll need them to put the Ole 100 back together!!!!

Good Luck with it

Well since i really did do much to it yesterday .Except took trans off and put front and rear seal in and a new filter and gasket on it.Painting the manifold right know.then doing going to start on the engine.Going to paint a little on it.Then take intake off and put new gasket on it.Then i guess going to pull the oil pan and try to get the rear main seal in it.Not sure if I will get that far.Still need to get a set of valve covers and a good flex plate.

After I get the new gasket on it then get it all painted and then it will be ready to sit it in the 71 but first get the frontend out of the 78 and clean it up and paint it and put it in.Then the motor goes in.Dang I got a long ways to go yet.Maybe one day I will get it back together.Later Tony
