trouble getting flat8 started

trouble getting flat8 started

I have a 41 flat8 and left the key on for a few days...recharged the battery now no fire...cranks fine and powerfully but no spark...new to flatties and not sure if I burnt something...points? coil? what do I look for?

Probally Burndt Up The Points,try Replacing Them First!!

Most likely the points are welded closed, it's an easy fix.

pull the cap and have someone spin the motor for you and see whats going on. I had the same problem and the ground wire in the distributer had a bad connection.

Check the wire from the points that goes to that stud throught the side of the housing. Mine had a plastic washer to keep the primary wire from grounding out, it had cracked from age and grounded out.

hey. dad and i opened the distributor and sprayed some electric cleaner in it. closed her up... and now she fires instantly on the first crank!!!
