F-450 tires: Goodyear G124's cost $$$$$$
I've been looking at purchasing a 2000 F-450 and all six tires on it are trashed. So I called up a local Goodyear dealer yesterday for a qoute on six G124 225/70R19.5 tires and was shocked to hear the quote was for $2,031.00!
The salesman on the phone told me that these tires cost more due to the 19.5" size, the fact that they are commercial truck tires, and something to do with the government making them cost more due to safety requirements.
I've since then tried several of the online tire sites and none of them carry these tires.
Are there some comparible tires that are commonly used on these trucks that cost less than the G124's?
Are there any online sites that do sell the larger commercial truck tires such as these?

Search for your size at a store in your area.
$1024.96 mounted and balanced for four
Item# GNO6522709F Type:LTR General LMT400 $244.99
So six tires would be $1537.44.
The $2,031.00 is not totally outrageous for brand new truck tires, plus, they last a very long time. You might consider retreads for the back.

NTB doesn't show the tire size I'm interested in or the F-450 truck.
I just checked out the NTB site and did a search for a 225/70R19.5 size tire and it came up empty. Same thing when I did a search for the F-450 truck, it's not even listed as a possibility. I did this for the St. Charles, St. Peters and St. Louis area.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I got that price by clicking on tires - tire pricing - then West Palm Beach FL. Just take the info. I provided to any local NTB and order them if the price is suitable. FWIW: It is not a popular tire size for 19.50 tires, you might consider a different size or different rim (20).
If I were you, I would look up a local (I have no idea where you live) truck tire dealer and get normal sized 19.50 or 20s and put retreads on the back DRW axle.
