How do you guys pick up your WVO from the restaurants???

Ive been trying to figure out the best way to do it. My chinese restaurant has a huge greaser in the back and I have to rig some sort of pump to suck all the oil out and put it into my 55 gallon drum in the bed of my truck. Do you guys leave the 55 gallon drums for them to fill and then have some sort of lift to get that heavy filled drum back into your truck????

I know there is an easy way but am stumped as all get out.

I find the easiest way is to get the folks at the restaurant to put it back in the container they get it in. I have a restaurant in Philly that does that for me. Then all I have to do is strip the cardboard box off the cube and bring it home. I take it out of the box because I've found roaches enjoy living in these boxes.

If that is not an option then build a WVO sucker. Some sort of tank (water heater tanks work) that you can put a vacuum on. Drive up stick your hose in the oil and open the valve. You can suck oil pretty fast this way. Very clear and neat. When you get home apply some pressure to the tank and blow the oil out the same hose.

Last option is a pump and some sort of power source. A pain, messy, and just an overall hassle to deal with.

I've done all the above. I don't do option three any longer now that I have a sucker.

I leave a 55 gal barrel at the location then pick up and drop off a fresh barrel. What I think I'm gonna start doing is get a trailer hitch rack and mount a 50 gal flat bottom plastic container and just suck it out of the barrel with a highpower sucker. I started doing (Leskwvo's option 3) when I first started but my pump (nothern tools) over heated and blew a fuse. So don't do that one.

My restaurants drain the fryers right into my supplied 5 gallon buckets.I pick up the full ones and drop off clean buckets to continue the cycle.I then tag the full buckets with the pickup dates so I can keep an accurate track of the settling time.

I'm using a tandem axle trailer with a 275 gallon tote on it. A 12 volt Fill Rite 15 GPM Pump, 20' of 1" suction hose w/ screen. Pumps it over the tote though 2- 5 micron bags filters then into the tote.
When I get home I us the same pump to remove the WVO from the tote (Valves). Pumping though one Goldenrod 30 micron waterblock, then a Bio-Tek 10 micron Spin on w/waterblock, Then a 1 Micron Bio-Tek Spin on.

This alows me to pump clean SVO into my dump truck for SVO running, And pump into my 55 gallon tank ( heated ) , for my appleseed Bio Processor. The Bio is for my F250 & my wife's new VW.

That mine!!!

Don't suck it out of the dumpster - it's illegal. Once it is in the dumpster it becomes property of the rendering company. My two restaurants put it in the 4.5 gallon cubies it comes in. I've been running SVO for 6 months in an '81 Mercedes wagon. I installed the Greasecar kit. I'm looking into the Vegistroke kit for our '01 F-250.
