blower switch replacement

How easy is it to replace the A/C blower switch? Ford only has the unit as a whole to replace, but parts stores have the individual switch. Can only the switch be replaced?

I have never replaced it, but looking at my spare from an 88 there are 2 screws holding it on the the assembly. The blower motor switch is also attatched to the same assembly. To get at it , the trim piece has 4 clips holding it on which is a matter of carefully pulling off. Underneath there is 4 screws holding the assembly in place. Once removed you can disconnect the electrical harness ,vaccum hose connector and slide wire and the whole thing can come out. I think the hard part is getting to the switch but that isnt really that tough.

What year is it and why need replaced? Just wondered my fan would only work on high went to get replacement . Parts man said it was a sensor beside blower in engine compartment. Easy fix . But I think the one I took out of my 93 is all one peice but didn't look that close. If I can find it I'll see. Good luck.

Got-r-done and back to proper operation. Parts store had one in stock. 4 easy clips, 4 easy screws, one screw on the switch, properly pulled **** off, unplugged from harness. Install reverse.

Looks like it got pretty hot. The switch was black and the harness was melted.

Glad you got it fixed. Sounds like it is the blower motor switch that was the problem.
