I have a '64 with a 292, one motor mount front, two rear, out of the truck they look the same. Worn out and bigger than any parts house has. I know they are orignal, part of ford part number readable. No luck finding. This is where I landed looking for HELP! Please.

 

Did you check the online store on this site? They may have something.

 

Disreguard, I looked them up and they only have a blank page for them.

 

Over the 39 years that my '63 F100 Unibody has been in the family, it's busted over half a dozen motor mounts. Usually happened when someone was overzealous by shifting from drive to reverse or vise-versa while the truck was still rolling (Cruis-O-Matic trannies hate that and will show it by locking up the rear tires or busting a mount). I've replaced them twice in the 4 years it's been in my possession. Since then, I've added a torque strap, and don't let anyone drive my truck.

They aren't real hard to find, but to find correct ones can be a challenge. I recommend Topp's Auto Supply in Anaheim, California if you want good quality y-block mounts (and many other parts) for good prices. I don't know where you are, but I'm sure you can arrange for them to send you parts. Not even SoCal Pickups in Riverside, CA has the right engine and tranny parts (and they specialize in older Fords!). Topp's has never failed me when I needed something for my 292.

You say the old rubber mounts seem to be too large, well, that's prolly because they are smashed. They also may be foreign-made. There are many y-block mounts out there that are made overseas. They are not the right size, and use inferior bolts.

Topp's mounts are made in the USA, and use only Grade 8 bolts. Check 'em out.

Intrestred in a number for Topp's auto, please. I'm in Sacramento area. The mounts are orignal, I can read some of old ford pn, and see ford logo,C_TA-60_8-d-yel/C_TT-6068-B-AU, long number. This mount takes a 9/16" x 4" bolt, the one everyone lists for my truck take a 1/2" bolt. Thier books also list front, left or right. Mine has one front and center, two at rear, all the same size. Well the two at rear are smashed and torn. Truck is a July '64 build in San Jose, last month for model year, this could explain why hard to find?

Last time I replaced my rear motormounts, they most certainly took a 9/16" x 4" bolt. I've never replaced the front mount on my 292, so I'm not sure if it is the same.

As for getting a number for Topp's, just dial 411, reply Anaheim when they ask you, and ask for Topp's Auto Supply's number. You can also ask for SoCal Pickups' number in Riverside, CA. I know SoCal Pickups has mounts, but I trust Topp's more, myself. I'm sorry I do not remember the numbers off hand, as I moved from California to North Dakota last December.

I see you have a San Jose-built truck! San Jose is my hometown. Unfortunately, my '63 wasn't built there, it was built in Kansas City. Oh well, as long as it wasn't built on a Monday or Friday, built in the US is just fine by me!

Lucky me then, My 63 was built here in Louisville and it is still here today, and always will be!!

That is definitely a very good site. Funny tho, I llived in Anaheim from '99 to '01 and never heard of that place. His prices are fair, but SoCal Pickups in Riverside are cheaper for many items.

The schematics on the website are very handy!

I made contact with John’s F - Funhundreds, they have motor mounts in the size I’m looking for. They are in the mail, I’ll make a final post if they are the correct ones. Good price as well, 17.50 ea. Thanks again for the info.

 

Motor mounts came in, just like the orignal, and just the right size.

I'm new to posting a message but not to reading the board messages.

Anyways, I have actually made my own since they were too hard to find and a bit expensive when I found them. The auto parts store wasn't even sure that they would fit when they came in. I tried several parts stores and none had a clue. I used an old tire and cut the forms from the side-walls. I used a utility knife; traced the mounts with a blue ink pen and cut eight round pieces. I stacked 4 on each of the upper mounts and it works great. No more transmission shifting with the homemade supports. I used the lower and outer washer that the original mounts had. Hope this helps anyone out there. My 292 has never worked better.

Great info in this thread, found it with the search.

The mounts I bought at AutoZone for a '61 were wrong--- they were the same exact ones they list for my '60. They show these rear ones:

They fit great on my '60, but obviously they're not right for a '61.

For some reason Dennis Carpenter lists them this way too. I just placed an order for the correct ones on Johns F-Fun Hundreds. Thanks guys.
