Here is an IDEA!!!

I was wondering if it would be ok to really filter some motor/hydraulic/transmission oil and mix it with condensate. I know our trucks will burn condensate by itself, but the lubricity isnt there. Can anyone chime in on this idea? Condensate is at $2/gallon now and used oil is plentiful.

Unless you can filter out all the contaminates in the used oil, then I wouldn't want to do it. Contaminates being soot, metal, acids etc.

It's not anything that you can filter out that will get you..........It's the acids and other nasty chemicals that will EAT-UP your IP.

Show me just 1 study that says it will not harm my diesels and I'll shut up...................but I still say, NOT IN MY DIESELS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some do, but WVO doesn't have the same heavy metals in it that WMO has.

Start with post #43 of this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...=443896&page=3. Dave Barbieri accurately depicts how the worst case scanario of running waste motor oil happened to him.

If you want to use VO (new or waste) there is a right way and a wrong way.
Blending it with any petroleum product or by-product is not a good idea because the two will seperate, VO has a much higher molecular weight than almost all petro products. The exception would be grease and 90 wt gear oil.

VO is a suitable fuel. If you intend to use WVO it will be free, or nearly so.
Spend the bucks to do it right and avoid the potential problems.

If you want to know how to do that contact LESKWVO, he sponsers this forum.

Dont you all think the mixture Dave ran of almost 50/50 was a bit too much. My dad and I were thinking of maybe doing 10-20%. We will try it is his 1990 f350 with a staight 7.3 before we try anything in my powerstroke.

If ya don't mind rolling the dice with your truck as the bet.

Read this thread from another guy that thought filtered WMV was a good idea.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...=504696&page=2

Personally I would not put 1% WMV in MY truck. Not worth the risk.

I'm with Fab & Phy why take the risk to save a few bucks on a 30K dollar or more truck............................................. ............................................. I did take the plunge & bought a Biodiesel solutions unit and am making bio out of waste vegi oil. Will take me around 1600 gals to pay the unit off but at least I am not sending a dollar to the middel east for the last four months.......
