value of 1970 Ford

Can anyone tell me where I could find the value of my 1970 Ford truck? It runs well,is in fair body condition (I think). Has a little rust, one mirror knocked off. It has been redone at a body shop twice. The last time the fella told me that she was getting pretty thin (whatever that means)
I inherited it from and older friend upon her death, and have no clue.....
A man wants me to trade it for his Ford Escort. He wants my truck and $4000.00. That seems like a rip off to me, but I'm no expert in this area. HElp!

First of all, unless this Escort is a 1999 model the guy is crazy. The 1970 truck was built to last while the escorts in the Pacific NW can be had for $200 at most towing auctions.

You really need to fill us in on more info. about both cars though. What year is the escort, how many miles are on both? What area of the country have these cars been?

The Kelly Blue Book won't really give you an accurate picture on something so old but it does help. At this age, the condition of the truck is really important.

Don't do it!! You'll appreciate the truck for many years to come if you put some dollars into it and make it nice.

I'm sure that you meant that he would give you the Escort and $4000.00, Right

JRW,
No, he wants the $4000.00 plus the truck. He says he knocked a $1000.00 off the price of the escort. It is a '96, I think. It has some cigarette burns and spills on the seats and floor. A few scratches...it was purchased in Michigan and has had only one owner. I think it has some 40,000 miles on it.
The truck had two owners previous to me...it was also purchased and used in Michigan, has some small rust spots even after body work. THe body man said that things were getting "thin" and it couldn't have too many more clean ups. It runs ok, but like any old vehicle needs some things done to it. The heater is kinda slow, and the radio is not working. The passenger mirror fell off. I've enjoyed driving it, but the cost of gas is killing me. 10-12 miles to the gallon...and I wouldn't want to take it on a road trip because I'm no mechanic.
Thanks for answering..it helped...

Angel Your thuck is probally worth $600.00- $2000.00 with $1000.00 being average. I might suggest that you just buy the car and keep the truck if you can swing it. The truck has more use value than monetary value. You will always find a use for the truck. It doesn't seem that the car is a cream puff either.
