filters and wvo

Ok I want to run wvo and not have to change fuel filters every other week. For those of you doin' this (and I'm sure this has been asked before) what is your process. Get wvo, let sit for week or so, filter oil, fill tank, heat oil, here's where I get lost. I don't want the brown grit looking stuff in the bottom of the fuel bowl so what do ya'll do. I have the bag filters to filter down to 1 micron and also a filter to get the water out. Please help.

Well it sounds like you're doing the right things. I filter through a bag filter into a drum which I have a heating element in. I heat the oil for about an hour twice a day for three days. The heater is on a timer. Then I pump this oil through two Goldenrod filter on it's way to the storage drum.

If you are plugging filters in a few weeks and say less then 4-5K miles you may just have real fatty oil.

What type of on board fuel filter are you using? Is it heated?

A cold filter will plug much faster then a warmed filter. Warmed oil hitting a cold filter will also cool the oil and cause blockage as the fats plug up the filter.

Lastly check you oil is it hydrogenated

I figured out my problem was the HIGH pressure lines from the FPR. They were leaking!!!!!!!! bad. Fixed the prob and now have over 2000 miles on this fuel filter. I also have an extra filter right after the fuel exits the tank which filters the oil again down to 2 microns. I also filter my oil with a bag filter from McMaster-Carr. It filters down to 1 micron. Both seem to be doing the trick now.
