Speedostat cruise control in '69?
I have a '69 F100 Ranger 360/C6 that is currently getting completely disassembled. One of the items I removed from under the hood appears to be a cruise control unit. It was made by Dana's Perfect Circle Division, and has the name "Speedostat" on it. It has two fittings on one end that appear to be for speedometer cables (one in from the tranny and one out to the speedo, I assume), along with a three-pronged electrical connector and a couple of vacuum fittings. Nothing was connected to it, and there are no switches or other controls in the cab. It is a large, heavy, and generally well-built piece. It does not bear a Ford part number or engineering code.
I'm assuming that this was an aftermarket unit that was disconnected when it stopped working. I've never seen any references to speed control being available from the factory in 69 trucks. Does anyone know anything about this unit? Might it have been factory installed on this or other Ford products of the era?

Karl, There have been several aftermarket cruse controls available over the years. I had one installed on a van that I had. The thing worked well to. Now it harder to find a vehicle without cruse than with. I have a tilt setup in a box, along with the cruse control and there is a cable that looks like a speedo cable. So I would say that yep tis a cruse alright.
