Any problems with BD in 6.0's?
I am seriously considering running BD in my 2004 6.0 Excursion, but have a few reservations. I have read in several different websites about International not recommending anything over b5. I assume that several of you run b100 in similar motors and year vehicles. Has anyone had any problems with running BD in their newer 6.0's? Is there anything in the 6.0 that may fail as a result of running b100? Some sites that I have read state that b100 is corrosive and can cause seals, gaskets, plastic parts, etc. to fail. Then of course Ford would void my extended warranty that I paid a hefty price for. I know that the filters would have to be changed more frequently, but besides that are there any other issues I should consider? I live in southern Nevada and will be looking into making the BD at home as I do not know of any place that sells it here yet. Any one is southern Nevada have any problems obtaining used oil?
Thanks for everyones input in advance!

Fords stand is B5 only of approved biodiesel. Go to www.biodiesel.org for fuel specs and where to purchase fuel. I have used it in all my farm equipment and on my ford diesels for years. I hate to waste a warranty because of fuel.

B846B,
I don't think you'll have problems with the hoses and seals and such. Every thing since about 94 has made the switch to synthetic rubber
what i would concern myself with trying to find out is whether or not the fuel will polymerize (sp?) under the new higher injection pressures the 6.0 runs
i don't know but have heard this is the main concern.

You wont have any probs, the information on corrosive was the use of waste veggie oil specifically linseed. Bio will super lube those injectors and hopefully keep you from replacing them. I know one guy with 180k and 19 injectors on dino. He is taking my suggestion and putting an oil bypass. If you switch to 100 you will have no probs, more power, less noise, more torque, and longer lasting oil. That is the prob with dino is the emmission req.ments and crystalizing carbon in the injectors and turbos during reburn. Bio is ment to be in the 6.0 and then they wouldnt have as much probs.

I've been running B20 on and off for a few months now in my 05 PSD. BioWillie. Only difference I notice is that the idle is a little quieter. But from what I can tell, I seem to get just a little less mpg's - like a half to one mpg.
I like the idea that BD does a better job of lubrication. If I don't run B20, then I run regular with DieselKleen additive. That may account for the slightly better mileage with regular - maybe my cetane is higher with regular and the additive than it is with B20 alone?
I've had one fuel filter change since running BD and didn't really notice that they were any dirtier than before. I change every 15,000 miles.
