Just speculation, but I would guess that if the PCM is unable to read the chip that code would result. Possibly the chip itself has failed?

Thanks every body. I asked him and he said that he was not getting any lights after he had a sensor changed in the exaust someplace so he is going to not worry about the code. If he has any more problems he is going to sign up and ask on here he did not know about this great site. Thanks again.

Mine too - Programmer Cause?
The other day I posted some on another guy's thread because my truck started running badly too. I changed the CPS, but that fixed it for a quick run down the street and then it ran bad again.
I have a friend who is a master mechanic with all the scanners, gauges etc. So for a couple beers, he scanned my truck. The truck kept coming back with Error Code P0605. Sounds like PCM right?
My question for the forum, can using an aftermarket chip smoke the PCM? Just before it ran bad, I had moved up to switch position 2 (has a TS 4 position switch), then dialed back to switch position 1. That's when it started running bad. If my chip, or method of using it caused the issue, maybe this post saves you a PCM.

The issue with the Edge stuff is that it erases the PCM program and then "reprograms" it every time you change the program. If anything goes wrong in the middle of that process, you can corrupt the PCM beyond repair. I have never heard anything of the sort happening with a TS style chip. Are you sure the chip is not loose on the back of the PCM or something? The way the chip works, it leaves the stock programming in the PCM and just changes how it interprets the information coming into the PCM and the corresponding outputs. I would be surprised if the chip is to blame for your issue. 'Course I have been wrong before.....

I unplugged the TS and the truck ran worse. I get the darn code with and without the chip plugged in. I'm not saying the TS fried the PCM; I was asking if it could and asking if the problem might be when I switched from position 2 to position 1. Maybe that was all a coincidence and something else caused the problem. For now, I'm going to remove the PCM and send off to auto computer change (something like that) to have the see if it's repairable or reprogrammable. If so and I get truck running again, I intend to plug the TS chip back in cuz I like the power it makes

It seems unlikely that changing the chip position caused your problem...... especially if replacing the cam sensor corrected it for a few minutes.
I have actually had a T/S style chip fry itself right there in the PCM port, but when I pulled the chip the truck ran perfectly.
A voltage spike through the chip can fry the pcm, but the only times I can remember hearing about that happening is when people were removing/installing the chip with the key in the ignition.
Did your CEL come on? If it's driveable I'd put a couple of drive cycles on it without the chip and rescan it.
