My understanding is all 5.4's up to 2001 used the good forged crank....after '01 only the Lightning has the forged crank.

All of 'em use the same marginal powdered metal rods.....the rods are the weakest link for the current Lightning.

450 HP at the wheels seems to be a safe limit from what I've read.....aprox. 550 at the crank.

The L uses the 4100R trans as does the 2V 5.4 in the Super Duty..........The 150's use the weaker automatic???

The L will also have better/different pistons form what I understand.

450-ish HP is about the limit for a regular 5.4 IMHO.
