Looking for...

I'm looking for a '70-'78 2-stroke street bike, Suzuli GT, Yamaha RD or a Kawasaki H to rebuild/restore. If anybody has one or knows of one that is for sale in the Arkansas area let me know.

I have been looking at some old bikes on ebay and all of them are out of state and have no title, if I were to buy one of the bikes what would I need to do to get it registered in Arkansas?

Get the year, make, model, and VIN # and go to the DFA and apply for a lost title.

Cookie, it's a little more complicated than that. The process is called a "bonded title". First you apply with the VIN and wait for them to send you the forms to fill out and send in along with an appraisal, then they send you a letter stating what amount of a bond you have to buy. Send that in and wait for them to send you the papers to go to the revenue office.

I have done this twice and wonder if it is worth it each time.

Jeff
P.S. If PO shows up with good title within 3 years, you have no choice but to give the vehicle up

I see. They didn't tell me all that when I asked, just the stuff I posted. PO won't be showing up, he's the one that called and told me he didn't have a title, and to get a new one.

It's not a lot of work, just paperwork and time consuming. The bond doesn't cost much either.

On lost titles in AR, if it hasn't been registered in 5 years it's out of the system.
Been there on both of my trucks(they were more or less junk) just makes you wonder if it is worth it.

So you have to apply for a lost title even if you still have the original? That's not good.

No, if you have the original title it is good for ever.

The computerized system that AR uses now kicks all vehicles out of the system when they haven't been registered for 5 years, but if you have the title it will pick it back up.

Whew...had me worried for a minute there. I haven't had a tag on my Bronco since 2000. Might want to put it back on the road someday.

Cookie, I've got you beat on that one. My 68 Bronco hasn't had tags since 92. My 53 ****** hasn't had em since 04 but that is about to change.
