Why Engine Idle On My 01 L Sounds Weird

I have a 2001 L with these mods: Superchips micro-tuner, FIPK Filter, silver bullet exhaust system and a 8 lbs lower pulley change. My boost increased up to 21 psi but why is it when my needle hits to the top on my psi boost, the engine sounds weird. Sounds like its losing its power. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Could it be an adjustment on my speed limiter, or rev limiter? Please help....

i really don't think u mean 21psi, remember stock is 8psi, but assuming you are running that much you need to tone it down a little. thats way to much boost for a stock L- unless you want to be replacing the bottomend soon

This started when I changed my stock lower pulley from a 2lb pulley to an 8lb pulley. I just said it could go all the way to max ps1. I have another aftermarket boost gage and it shows it goes all the way to 21 psi my max psi for this guage is 30 psi. It really produces a boost but when I floor it then that's when it starts a funny sounds like I'm flooding it or something. I wonder if it's just the speed limiter adjustment on my microtuner superchips......

Its the sound of your bottom end screaming for help!

Seriously, 21 psi? And you still have the (H)Eaton blower on it? Might want to re-think the combination there. Even at 14-15 psi, it makes plenty of power....but I wasn't aware that the hEaton blower was capable of moving that much air to produce 21 psi...at least not efficiently. You're probably pumping more heat than anything else.

The Eaton S/C dont make more then 16 maybe 17 psi of boost. Sounds like you have a leak on a vacuum hose or one is loose somewhere. Check all your connections !
