How fast do you drive on the highway?

The open Interstate highways ( I-25 and I-40 ) are 75mph. In my SD I only travel at about 71-2mph with cruise "ON". I still get 14mpg... (MOST other drivers are running 80-90mph). That is no joke either. So...I am in the right lane and getting passed a lot!
In the city the speed limit is 65mph on the freeways...and I do that. (Most other drivers are in the 75+ mph range). So once again...I am getting passed a lot.

In the Ranger, I cruise at 62. That's all she likes to do, nowadays...
My father's car I'll run up to 70-75 depending on traffic, and I'll cruise at up to 80 in either my mother's car or my friends Caddy. All that is dependent on road and traffic conditions, of course. (Speed limit here is 65. Out west, where the limits are sometimes higher, I'll either run at the limit or with the majority of the trucks; hard to know what you'll get a ticket for sometimes...)

I usually stay about 20mph over in my truck unless I'm in town. My last car, '95 Probe GT, was governed at 137mph which sucked because it hit governor TOO fast. It was strange, that car had a speed governor but no rev limiter (missed a gear and the needle went way past the tach, tach ended at 8,000 rpm).

Think about these the next time you consider racing someone or driving after drinking.

I set my cruise at 109km/h. I figure that's pretty safe cause everyone else is doin' 120 or better. With those speeds I figure people are always moving away from me which gives me buffer safety zone and I can cruise uninhibited and save gas while I'm doin' it. I'm going to London ON next week and this will be my first long distance trip in my new truck and I'm quite anxious to see how well it does.
