I need to change the passenger side headlight, is there an easy way to do it? I tried to get through the back side but couldn't get in there good enough to correctly put the new bulb back in. Does the whole assy come out?
What year X do you have? What motor? I've had both sides of my 2000 7.3 out and don't recall doing anything special. The drivers side (just out yesterday) was a little tight against the battery box, but still do able. Probably a difference in the year or motor, but if no one else has any ideas today, I'll take another look at mine tonight and re-fresh my memory.
It's a 2000 X Limited with the V10. I know the drivers side, there is a canister right there so I would have to take the assy out, good thing this is the passenger side.
There are two screws between the bumper and headlight. I can't remember where the other hardware-clips, etc are....but it should be evident once you'er there. (I know my Cobra has two blades that slide up and the headlight comes out.)
I used an extension on my 1/4 drive ratchet to get the screws out above the bumper.
when i replaced the lights in my 01 limited V10 4x4, i did not have to remove anything. it was a little on the snug side, but they came out and the HID lights went in without a hitch.
I have a '00 V10 Limited as well... I was able to replace both headlights by reaching in directly from above. Tight fit, but nothing serious. If you have HUGE hands and arms, you might have some trouble.
You revived a 15 year old post to ask about a 96 f350 in the excursion forum ?
Perhaps the easiest way for you to change your lightbulb is to take it to a mechanic
Scroll to the bottom of the page. FTE has gone to putting 15 year old posts in the "related topics" box and a lot of users are just following the links that the site is providing. Seeing it in a lot of the discussions.
