Atlanta Area Junkyards

Junkyard may not be PC, but I still like it better than salvage yard or automotive dismantler. Anyhow, Neva has an all day meeting in Conyers tomorrow and I was wondering if any of you knew of any older yards that may be open on a Saturday. We'll end up in the Sharpsburg area, but any part of Atlanta is okay since I will have from about 8:30am until 3:00pm free. Thanks in advance. I may try to get up to Old Car City USA.

Rebo,

I spent about an hour at the Conley yard of Pull-A-Part and had a ball. That's the most organized boneyard I've ever seen, not to mention NO mud and dirt!
I'm anxious to see the other locations now.

So you guys are the ones taking my parts in Conley! Gotta work quick there and take all you need. Everytime I find a compatable truck and go back, It is gone.

While at the Conley yard, I spotted an old International pickup, but it's not just ANY pickup. It's the short-bed version, with the little half-a-V-8 four cylinder. If I'm not mistaken, these are based on the Scout chassis. If y'all know any Int. freaks, they may want to latch on to this. By the way, can a complete vehicle be purchased there?

I have no idea if you can purchase a whole vehicle. I had my eyes on a sweet falcon they had at Conley once. I did not ask them about it because I did not have much cash on hand.

Blue,

I remember seeing a sign posted that read something about $5.50 per 100 pounds for a complete vehicle, but I'm not sure if that meant what PaP paid for a vehicle, or what one could be bought for. If you find out the answer before I do, please let me know, and I'll see what I can learn and share with the group.

Some of the salvage yards are paying close to that amount right now so I would guess thats what they are buying them for. I may try to make it out their saturday if I dont have to work friday night. If I go I will ask them. I hope they will sell a complete vehicle. I see alot of Bronco 2s there.

If I run across one and have the cash on hand I will go ahead and pull it and purchase it. I would let you have it for what I have to pay but you will have to come drink a few beers with me to get it.
