76 is my favorite year, pretty much because of the grill, and its the year i was born.. ....heck, i even bought a 76 cab to put on my 78 chassis...for what you say your planning to spend on a truck, you could get a pretty clean 76 if you look hard enough....i only paid 800 for mine 5 years ago, it had 68,000 original miles on the original 360, the body was perfectly straight AND it had working factory a/c....the steering was loose like any other 73-79, but about 150 bucks and a days labor solved that issue...i even drove it for 4 years before i did that..it now needs the interior redone and some dents and rust replaced, but the 460 makes up for all that!!!...too bad your old man wont let you have a 460, its alot of motor for a F-150....but it sure is fun to drive ....I will never sell my 76, the other Fords might go if things get tight, but i could never let my baby go....
