Just curious if any of you are into snowmaching? If so and you make it over let me know. I can give you a local guide of the pass. We try to ride atleast once a week up there.

Second part. Look to try some riding at Eureka but never have been there. Does anyone have an internet site, link, or map and suggestions for that area.

The KTUU web site has a snowmachine report link on the left hand side. Last time I looked Lake Louise hadn't reported anything. Good luck.
Sure appreciate the invite but I hardly make it over to that side of the woods. I would imagine it would be easier to take the ferry out of Seward than to drive up and around the mountains.

Snowmaching is so-so on Lake Louise. I have neighbors that have property back there so I kinda get a first hand report from them. I was more looking for a map/directions on were to go at Eureka. Never been there ridding so some sort of guide would be nice. Not to concern really. We have so much snooooowwwww on the pass it looks like the majority of the people I have run into up there are from other than Valdez. Pretty good average of waist to neck deep when you jump of the machine. Plus it has been snow for the past few days. Just would like to experience some different locations here and there.

 

I wish I was up there. I love snowmobiling. I'm in the process of long-tracking my ZR700. Hopefully someday I'll be able to get a true mountain machine, an M7 or an RMK. I've heard good things about the M series Cat's.

 

I have 2 RMK's. 144 and 151. The 151 is the new 06 700. It diffently rides different. Have to get use to it. Havent ridden an M7 but they are suppose to be nice. Most Artic Cat sled's here in town are racing. RMK's and Summits seem to be the popular choice locally with a few M6 or M7.

 

I would say that Polaris deffinately is the dominate sled that I have seen where I ride. Every place I ride I would guess is about 60% Polaris, 30% Cat and the rest Yamaha and Doo.

I love snowmobiling, it's a blast!

Right on. There is a severe storm warning in effect for the local mountains here. Anywhere from 2-3 feet through this weekend. I have a couple pics in my "tuning" gallery as well. Your pics look pretty good

 

Forgot the camera. Will be going again Monday so I will take some photos. Nice Truck. If I lived down south and not were I am I probley would have a "Hobbie" like that.

Not sure how deep the snow was but deep. We were riding at 3500-4000. Beauty day but a little cold, -20.

 

I got started on longtracking my ZR today. I'm hoping to head out and run it sometime later this week. Thanks for the compliment on the truck. It's a toss-up sometimes whether I like my hot rod better or my snowmobiles I usually ride at 4500'-7000' elevations, but since you are so far north, you'll probably have me beat on snow on any day

 

We get about 350-450 on average here in town (Sea Level). UP on the pass (2600ft) they get around 600-700 with a few winter close to 1000. Then you go up higher in the Chugach and it alot compared to the pass. Went last week up to the toe of one of our glacier runs. Jump of the machine next to an alder patch and went to my neck. Another guy I ride with went over the glacier to break trail and stated there was a "Mind Bogling Amount of Snow". I try to get some photos posted tuesday. We are going up in the Wrangel mountains, riding in the 3000-5500 elevations. Good snow Saturday so it shouldnt change any between then and now.

 

I finally got the 136" x 2" track on my ZR. I'm going up tomorrow to do some riding, about an hour or so from my place. I hope it goes trouble free considering it's a new track and all. I had to go with 8-tooth drive sprockets for clearance and went with 20/39 gearing. My final drive ratio is around 2.2. Hopefully I'll post up some pictures in the next day or two after I get back.

So 53fatfndr how did the new track work out?

 

Well, I took it out Monday and got a bit of tunnel rub with the new setup. So, I just took it easy for the rest of the outing on that day. I did a few suspension adjustments on Tuesday and Wednesday and headed back out Thursday. I stiffened up the rear suspension and lowered the skid below the tunnel, (my AC has a mount under there, like the new M series cats, I believe.) Anyway, it rode alot better on Thursday, I bottomed out once and got no tunnel rub. So, now it's just down to fine tuning now. I've added a few pics to my gallery.
