Jon, I could give you some silly off the cuff answer that wouldn't give you the information that you are looking for but the truth is, it's hard to say what it's worth without seeing the truck. The value of these trucks vary greatly. Is it a short bed or long bed? does it have A/C? Does the A/C work? Is the paint nice? Is the paint perfect? I would say if it is a short bed with A/C and in extra nice shape inside and out it would be worth $4000-$5000. It might be worth more. You could probably find one for less. If it is a long bed I would say $3000-$4000. If the truck is in nice presentable shape but not perfect I would say $2500-$3500 on the Short bed and $2000-$3000 on the long bed. It also depends where you live. Hope this helps you out.

I just saw your other post. If the truck is "flawless inside and out" it may be worth as much as $8000. I wouldn't consider it to be "a good investment" at that price but if you like it and want it go for it. A guy offered me $9000 for my '66 3 years ago and I though he was a nut. I guess I'm a nut too because I turned him down. A "good deal" is a state of mind. If you're happy with what you got and what you paid for it then it's a good deal. Only you can decide that.

1977 F100 ranger?whats it worth

A couple of weeks ago i saw a 76 xlt 1/2t long bed for sale on a side street in my home town in kansas. i looked pretty slick but had very small rust through behind one rear fender but not a major repair. bed had a factory camper shell so inside was pefect both inside the cab and bed. i thought to myself that i would steal it so i called the phone # listed figuring i would probably buy it for about 1500, the truck had 150k miles and the original owner wanted 3000. i though he was crazy and i almost told him so. to my surprise last week i saw a new driver driving it, so apparently they don't have to be perfect or low miles to bring 3000 here. a couple of days ago i bought a 73xlt loaded amfm 390 c6 etc 113k original owner, every piece of trim and grill perfect factory camper shell still on. truck runs great, started at 0 degree f. but very rusty. i bought it for 300. that's more my style. now i can't decide whether to take it apart or not. crazy jim.

1977 F100 ranger?whats it worth

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Jan-02 AT 11:13 PM (EST)]I have a 1979 F100 Ranger. It has power steering and A/C. No power brakes. 302 V8 with auto. No rust all over, but it has a lot of dents, inculding a huge one on the box and tailgate. Stole it for $250. It's ugly as hell.

Just got a 1978 F150 Ranger. No rust, either. 400M and auto. It doesn't run, I think it needs a timing chain. Hauled it home for $200.

I bought my 76 Ranger XLT longbed last march for $800. It has power steering, power brakes (disc front, drum rear) AMFM stereo radio, AC/Heat and the original 302 with 96k on the odometer and running better than most new cars. It has a little rust, but I'm working on that. I consider it one of the best deals I've ever made.

I paid $1500 for my 1977 F100 LONG BED. Body in good shape, paint too, virtually no rust (inside door jam has slight). Its a 302 auto, new tires and 113k. Interior is fair, has ac, psteer and p brakes. I have replaced a fuel line, a few smaller things, plug wires and installed new dual exhaust system, so go about $2100 invested.....am I still OK on this if I decide to resell ?

I stopped along the road to look at a short bed '74 just yesterday. I walked around it, saw the dents, rust holes and the $3,000. BO FS sign. I figured my best offer would have been $300. but not worth taking the number down to call.

$300 ?...around here that will get you maybe a used bed...haha If a truck like that is in running condition , regardless of other condition, rust, etc it will bring $700-800 bucks no problem around my parts
