Headlights inop. high beam indicator on
Hi guys. I have a wierd problem going on with my 1992 f150. When you turn the headlight switch on, the headlights remain off but the high beam indicator is on. When you turn on the high beams the indicator remains on. About 2 weeks ago I replaced my headlight sockets with some high temp. units because the center terminal was burned on both sockets. Everything worked great until now with the problem i mentioned above. I got out and wiggled the wires at the sockets and one light came on bright, the other dim. The one light socket after about 1 minute was hot hot hot so I turned my lights off. All fuses are good. I am not sure what is going on. By looking at the wiring diagram there is no relay. I dont believe that the headlight switch is the problem, nor the dimmer switch because I am getting power to the lights after I wiggle the wires. Now the sockets are burnt again both sides on the center terminal. I cleaned the grounds on the fender last week when I replaced the first set of sockets. The bulbs are good, well were good until they are slightly melted around the center terminal, so I will replace bulbs and sockets again but what is going on? I can not figure this out. Looking at the wiring diagram I can not see any where that the high beam indicator light could be on without power going through the bulbs???? Please help thanks
