If you have a computer installed "piggy back" chip, problems could be caused by loose contact between the chip and circuit board. Try cleaning these contact points.
sounds like cps. takes a 10mm socket and small ext. there are some posts with pics on the site. i got mine from navistar (international) less than a hundred bucks. ask the stealer what they get for one. well thats too much!!!!
thx everybody , if I take her to the shop & hook it up to a diagnostic will it tell me that it's the cps sensor or will they try & give me the run around
i just hooked up a superchips tuner to my 99 superduty and it comes up as "not original diagnostic settings" or something like that. if i reset the computer by unhooking the batteries, do you think that would do the trick. thanx
This time I decided to look at the original posting date before answering. When my Superchip quit years ago I of course replaced the CPS. Still no start, so I just had it towed to the stealership. The stealership told me the chip had everything out of whack and pulled it. It worked and it took me a few days to get a new chip from Superchips, but it's been fine ever since. But now I have my brandnew DP 6 tunes, and it's a lot more fun than just a single setting 80 hp chip, although without the Superchip my truck was no fun at all to drive.
i was trying to performance tune. the diagnostics worked fine. are those made to work on only one truck after the first time or is there some way to reset them
