Ford 360 v8...
Hi. I'm a new member to FTE and a resident of CT. I just picked up a 1975 ford f350 equipped with a 360. I've been reading mixed reviews on this engine and now i'm getting nervous. I haven't started any work on the truck yet. Any thougts/ideas/opinions are appreciated!

Welcome. I'm from the "other" part of NE
Don't be nervous with the 360. It an FE family motor and pretty reliable. Not great on gas and heavy as h%ll bit al in all a good motor. I have a 72 F250 with one of its bigger brother in it (390). Like any other motor, you treat it right and there shouldn't be a problem with it. What have you heard of the 390?? The only differance between the 360 and 390 is the crank rods and pistons. Its said that the longer rods in the 360 arn't as strong as the shorter 390 rods but if you arn't racing and bringing the revs up you shouldn't have a problem.
Check out the 73-79 section of the forup and the FE motor section. There is a ton of knowledge on this message board.

Got check out the motor forums section of this board. You will see that ford has over 30 motors they have made over the years.
The 360 is part of the FE family including the following motors all with the same or similar base block:
FE V8- 332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428
And now your gonna say the 427 is a chebby motor. They do have a 427 also, but from what I heard the Ford 427 is the Corvett killer because of it in the AC Cobra in the 60's
And an FE is the only motor I have heard of to sit for about 10 years and start after a little coaxing. I am sure there are others.

Ok, you mention a few motors I don't recall. I used to go through cars left and right when I was young and crazy and tried to stay with Ford as much as possible. Torinos were my thing back then and I can honestly say that I never encountered some of the motors you just listed. Guess I've lived a sheltered life.
352?

wrong try again. the 352 was not the first, the 332 was the first FE made.also the 352 is not on all blocks. 352 is a core shift number and sepertates it from the later reverse 105 high nickel blocks.
