My 93 F250 with Dana 60 up front, 3.55 gears,ZF 5speed,35 inch tires, I can get 15mpg on the highway easy. But mix driving I get about 12mpg's. At 55mph I am only turning 1500 RPM, Foot is just resting on the throttle. Winter rolls around soon and mileage suffers alot. Last winter I only averaged about 10-11mpg, Mornings were cold -25 degrees below. I only have a 11 mile trip to work so the engine doesnt get up to temp for the first 6 miles or so. I dont let it warm up at all.

87 460 4bbl F250 4x4 33" x 12.5" BFG AT tires 4.10 gears ZF 5 speed 240,000 miles
I got 10MPG around town & 11 MPG highway
I'm rebuilding the motor with a mild (bigger than stock) cam, headers, and Performer intake. I'm hoping to pick up 1 or 2 MPG. We will see.
Also, removing the tailgate has added about 1 MPG to what I listed above (highway). 1 MPG may not sound like much, but on a 10 MPG truck, that's 10%!

I have a 97 f250/w 460 and 4.10 gears 4X4. When I first bought it I got about
6mpg towing a 27FT TT. I have added headers,3" exhaust,straight thru muffler,
hot coil,MSD ignition and 8.5 plug wires Have modified the air intake system, I now
get on average 9MPG towing the trailer. The MSD 6A ignition module gained me about
1 MPG. Plan on completely revamping the air intake system by removing the stock
Ford ducting and installing more direct ducting. I noticed when I took a trial run without the ducts connected to the intake manifold, Had noticeable increase in power.

My mileage.................
My mileage is right where Gene K is. What never ceases to amaze me about these trucks is our ability to crawl up the side of a mountain at .5 m.p.h., carry insane loads in the back of them, fly down the highway at 70+ (sometimes WAY plus), and do it day in and day out without many issues. My truck is at 310,000 K (I think thats somewhere around 200,000 U.S.). Yep, I wish I had better fuel economy, but it pulls anything I hook on to, is a daily driver, has been up and down various mountains hauling stone, logs, etc., and is frequently called upon to make a quick run on the highway out to my cabin. Other than the expected cost of oil changes, tires, and brakes, my only unexpected expense was a broken clutch linkage last winter- a $100.00 new parts fix. There is no better feeling than that of a truck that will start when you need it and will do as you ask of it (within reason). I'm often tempted to go out and buy a new one, but there are just enough horror stories of newer trucks out there that prompt me to take mine out and give it a fill-up, an oil change, and a drive into the car wash.
