SECURITY PERSONNEL WANTED (for next year)
True story - one of our own got ripped off (vandalised).
And it HAD to be the laptop with all of the tunes on it....
(It happened while we were all enjoying the 'Hospitality' of the dog racing track....)
Many of us are service people, or peace officer related. NEXT YEAR we have an option - leave it up to the local off duty wannbees, or do it right - OURSELVES!
The 2006 FTE RALLY Security division is looking for volunteers.
Are you willing? And do you want to be there?
I want a piece of that myself, I have stood watches before.

I can't say it enough... Thank you guys for the gift at the banquet to help defray the cost of the break in... it wasn't the money that got me as much as the sentiment.... Thanks again. And I will be looking for several people to help with securtiy next year... I'm hoping to break it up into a few shifts of just a couple hours each. Looks like I'll have an RV there next year, for a security office.

If we can get some pointers from some one with a Kansas "Guard Card" to at least hold a seminar covering the basics the night before, or during the event (probable cause, due process, rights, etc...) it can be done well.
In this way we could avoid court appearances involving dialog such as:
"The suspect was wearing an obviously demarcated Chevrolet shirt, which may have been French in origin - so I believed he was a saboteur or possible terrorist, therefore I clubbed him with my mag-light at the earliest opportunity and without involving spectators..."

"STAFF" or "SECURITY" T-Shirts are a good point. They should be a light color, with black print - due to the heat factors. An FTE logo on the front would be a plus - you could only earn that by being there. Year of the event on the logo would add to authenticity (credentials)

You'd be good at it - but do you have a "Security" or "Police" background?
(As opposed to: "Pick twenty facts, and do a stand up presentation about them")
It needs someone with a grounding in the PRACTICE of Kansas penal code (PC) enforcement. In Tennessee it would be kind of hairy, unless someone had been through "concealed carry" school.
There are a number of steps involved before you can say: "Officer, take charge of the prisoner". This is true of any state, and is different in each.

I have a friend that is a trooper, and also a county sheriff, I was going to ask one of them for pointers, or something... (they both drive fords..... ) I have quite a bit of security training from my stint with uncle sam... but I am thinking a few shifts of a few guys walking around the event - not so much during the day--- but at night... I'll keepa list of volenteers going, and after the first of the year we'll start some real brainstorming... any and all Ideas are welcome... except firearms of course... :-)

Well, i'll be just about 17, obviously with no experience, but if i can get there i'll do it. Im hopin to pick up a harley this year, so i could get their fairly cheap from cali, probably around 100-120 bucks in gas. Would it be ok having no security experience, and being under 18? if not i can just bring my own bat and volunteer myself lol.
