Rough Riding
I recently purchased a 2000 Ranger and right from the start it felt like there was excess wheel hop when you hit a bump in the road. It seems to bounce or vibrate. The dealer replaced the rear shocks and I had the tires balanced. It still does it. I drove two other Rangers, one just like mine and a 4X4. The 4X4 rides stiffer and does not seem to have any vibration or axle hop! The other was just like mine. I am thinking of adding a overload spring to the leaf spring because I noticed that the 4X4 has an extra leaf. Has anyone had this experience.

Well, let see. It's a truck......
First mistake was buying Ford shocks. They're crap. Buy some Bilstien shocks. They're stiff, but they handle awsome, you'll only feel a bump once. Could also be the type of tires you have, could be something loose, bad bushings... Dunno. I have a 98 with 113k miles, new shocks around 70k, and LT tires. I also have overload springs, but I keep a lot of weight in the back. Anyway, mine handles great. The biggest improvement was the Bilstien shocks. Highly reccommend them. Also check the bolts and bushings on the suspension

Thanks for the replys. I didn't buy the shocks, the dealer installed them when I complained about how the truck rode. I think upgrading to a better shock is a good idea, they didn't replace the fronts anyway. It is about 10k away from needing new tires and LT tires are way I always go on my trucks. Thanks!!! See you down the rode!!!
