Central Air annual cost in NC?

We are moving south next year. Up here in the north east it runs about $2000.00 (in oil) a year to heat a new 1800 feet two story vinyl home. What's it cost to run Central Air Conditioning for a new one story home, about 1800 square feet brick home. What's cheaper running electric or gas?
Thanks for any help guys,
Mike

We have a one story house about 1175 sq ft. electric heart and air with hardi plank siding and pay about $110 a month give or take a few here and there.

Thanks, so that would be about $1300.00 annually ($110 X 12 months) or do you pay a lot less during the winters? Is natural gas and propane to expensive to use? Is there a time of year that the bugs are to bad to go outside,we have that problem here? That's another reason for moving south. Are there any public access places to go 4 wheeling?
Thanks again for the reply.

That is roughly about what I pay. There are time when I am deployed and the electric bill is less cause of one less person in the house. The bugs can be bad at times in June and when it rains alot when there are water sitting everywhere. I not quite sure about natural gas or propane. I don't think it is used very much around here. Jacksonville, Onslow County Area. I know it is offered in some areas and I don't think it is very expensive. Whereever you move to you will have to find out what they offer in your area. As far as 4 wheeling goes I know there are areas but I don't go, for one I never have time. When do you plan on moving and what area?

Depends on which area you move to. Mountains= more heat, less a/c, piedmont= both heat and a/c, coast= less heat

Here around Charlotte I average $200 month in electric, with 60% of that heat or a/c
