I replaced my Throttle Body last weekend and noticed the old one
had oil on the inside of it.Anyone know how oil could be getting in there?
It has 63,000 miles. Thanks for any info.
This is a common problem. Oil mist gets past the PCV valve and into the intake under boost. There are lots of DIY fixes using various catch-cans/filters/traps to reduce the oil. While most seem to help, none appear to be 100% effective.
It coats the intercooler, reduces efficiency, and eventually will have to be cleaned. A simple oil separator will pull most of the oil mist off and still leave the factory PCV system intact.
