what should i do?

i Have a 1990 Eb w/ a 302.i bought the thing for 700 bucks.it has 33"tires on it the rest is stock.Last week the fuel pump blew on me.so i bought it to a shop to get done.Whilke it was on his lift he realized that the frame was cracked just behind the rear body mount on the drivers side.Another problem i have is that the tranny is blown it will not come out of first but i still have reverse and park.Is it worth me keeping this truck and dropping money into it or should i try and find one in better shape.

These types of questions are tough, because a lot of people can only afford to pour money into their current truck, and they're just pouring good money after bad. However, if the rest of the truck is in good shape, if the crack in the frame can be fixed, and you don't mind spending the money on the tranny, then you may want to keep it. I'd have somebody look at the WHOLE truck carefully to see what else it might need. Then you have to weigh the potential repairs against the cost and figure out for yourself what you want to do. If it's going to take a fortune to fix, and you can afford to buy another vehicle, you may want to think twice about keeping it. I know that sounds kind of vague, but I do know this for sure: if it's going to take a lot of $, don't expect to get it back if you have to sell it. You could easily spend $2-3000 just from what you described, and it may not be worth much more than the $700 you paid for it.

be very mindful of the oil pressure in the truck. thats why i'm parting my 89 out. lost the pressure in the 5.0 and snapped a valve head. otherwise truck was in fairly good shape. just found it was easier to get another with all the engine problems mine had from neglect/abuse of prior owner. but found 2 in good shape mechanically afterwards. good luck with the new truck. drop me a line if you need parts/assistance

I would come down South and get another truck. If I remember correctly LI doesn't use salt. I don't think I will ever buy another NY vehicle due to salt on the roads. LI roads are not that rough so your vehicle must have been abused a little to break the frame.

thats not true any more, with the contruction on the LIE lately and car/truck gets severly abused. 50% of the expressway commonly traveled is torn up for the contruction of the HOV lane. also because of this many back and side roads are being neglected and are full of potholes
