Air Leaking Back Thru Oil Pickup Tube

Okay guys I am stumped, I had a mishap with my truck and managed to grenade (literally) an injector. The dealership is covering the repair under warranty despite the presence of a programmer. The injector was replaced and tests run but now it seems that the when compressed air is blown into the cynlinder, the air comes back out of the oil pickup tube.

Now my questions are how could this happen? And since it has happened how bad is the damage? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

couple questions first. by pickup tube i assume you are talking the oil pump pickup tube in the oil pan, correct? also where and how is the air being blown into cylinder. since the injector was bad i am guessing its through the injector port under the valve cover. if it is is the air sealed at the very bottom where the injector tip sticks into the cyclinder. if its not sealed all the way down there the air could be going into the high pressure oil rail to the hpop and then down to the pickup tube at the low pressure oil pump.

but if you mean the oil dip stick tube which i don't think you are talking about you have blow by or a hole in the piston.

give more info and we can surely help

good luck

That is all the information I have right now. I believe it is the pickup tube in the pan. Don't think it is blow-by and sure hope its not a hole in the piston. Dealership seems to think they can have the truck ready Friday afternoon or Saturday. So that leads me to believe they are not pulling the engine to replace a piston. Wish they would hurry I am missing my truck something awful. Although its not all bad, our other car is a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.7 Hemi.
