Sliding glass - rear window replacement

Our shorty was broken into a few nights ago. Among other things the driver side rear sliding window was broken. Is there a way to replace just the broken sliding window without removing the window unit from the body like the shop manual shows? I can get the parts from a bone yard and would like the quick install.

Yeah, you'll need to replace the entire assembly...I had to do it for BOTH of the passenger side rear windows on our previous van - the 90 shorty...was a little time consuming, but not difficult...hardest part is removing the interior trim, without tearing it up...the window is amazingly easy to do, and also EXTREMELY light weight...you'd be surprised...

I replaced the whole assembly on mine about a year ago, got the whole assembly at wreckers for $30 can. I didn't remove the whole interior but just enough screws to be able to get at the 8 or 10 screws holding the assembly.
It took approx 45 minutes to complete.
