Site Downtime

FTE's server experienced a hard-drive failure on the database drive array (RAID 5) last night. The system was down for 4 hours while the failed drive was being rebuilt in the array (most of time was actually getting ready to go downtime and commute time). Thanks to the redundancy of RAID 5, no data was lost.

Hmmm...it should have still run even with 1 failed drive, though a bit slow. Time to invest in hot spares!

I have it set to shut down in the event of a drive failure. I'd rather have a few hours downtime than risk running without redundancy. Hot spares cost money.
