1st Official VIRGINIA CHAPTER MEET!!!! (May 21)
Date, time and place are all set up. Although this may not accomodate everyone, it's nearly impossible to do that... so we went with the popular vote.
Date: May 21, 2005
Time: 12:00 noon: Caravan's meet at entrance to the park
Place: Skyline Drive (Shenandoah National Park)
Who: All FTE Va chapter members and their friends and families
Just for the sake of organization, I'll keep a running list of what we'll need. Please reply to this thread if you can come or plan on coming and what you could contribute, I'll add those who reply with a yes and what they plan on bringing so we can plan enough for everyone. Those who have a number specific item (like hamburgers or hotdogs) will be able to reference this post and the current head count to plan on how much to bring.
If you have any suggestions, please, let us know... I'll be driving up there in the next week or so to try and pick out a prime spot and figure out a good parking area so we can gather up the caravan before entering the park (so far we might make the first meet spot the Front Royal entrance and the second one the Thorton Gap to pick up the rest of the group, those travelling from the south, if we have enough response we can also have a group caravan up from Rockfish or Swiftrun).
Those details to be posted shortly. A link to the park map is below.

Alcohol policy: The National Park as far as we could find, does not condone use of alcohol in the park. If you want to bring it in, we are doing so at our own risk (groups have done it before and as long as you trasfer it to a cup, no ones ever hassled them). Just a heads up for those who'd like to partake.
Overnight Camping: If anyone is intersted in camping in the park on Saturday night, if we have more than 8 people (less than 20) we can reserve a private camp lot and/or get a group of sites together and reserved for us ... PM me if you are interested or put it in your reply and we can try to set that up for those of us who'd like to rough it for a night, I'm going to plan on it!

LOL... you think this is good, you should see me plan parties...
I'm more than happy to do this any time you need help, I enjoy planning and organizing events... given serious thought to being a wedding planner, but I actually get a little stressed from planning and figured weddings would be much to stressful...
damit... I knew I'd spell it wrong somehow... I fixed it. Sorry bout that.
No worries on passing on the camping, I had no idea if people will be intersted, but I figured since we are already in a huge national park, if we have campers in the mix, perfect opportunity.
I live in Centreville, VA (near Manassas and Fairfax)... por que?

Shenandoah Meeting
I can bring anything that has been listed thus far. I am interested in staying overnight. Is the camping with trailers or tent camping only? I will monitor this thread and then obligate to bring whatever is required to complete the list. I am quite familiar with the park. I ride in equestrian activities in that park frequently.

Franken-Truck... I apparently can no longer edit my top post... in order to account for more "Yeay's" and what they will be bringing. Do you have the ability to delete threads? I was thinking of just starting a new thread once a week to update the information... as I've figured out the picnic area I think we'll use and times and such. I hate that they only give you an hour to edit this and then disable it.
Thoughts?

I do not have the ability to delete threads, I don't think it is possible anyways Also, it would make it too confusing to have so many of the same thread floating around. I would just make an update post every 6 or so people that are coming. And I have already asked to have some threads shuffled around. I will ask about editing, but don't get your hopes up
