Update to old gas smell posts
Two days before installing my new intake and carb, I found the source of the gas smell many people have tried to help me with. The gas was leaking out where the fuel filter screws into the carb. This was happening with the old filter also and all I had to fix it was tighten up really, really good. I was not able to see this because it was just enough to cause the smell and the fan was blowing all the fuel back under the carb where it was evaporating.
Thanks for all the help. Now I know my tank is good, all my fuel lines are either new or checked out and the fuel pump is new. This with the new intake and carb (which would have fixed the problem anyway) have my 302 purring like a kitten and it stars right up now with no need to work the gas pedal.
Michael.
